Truth About Weight Loss Diets

Millions of people desire to lose weight because they know the health benefits of having a body that is lighter and trimmer. However, most of them find it difficult to attain their desired goals because most weight loss diets do not look like they are any fun to deal with. There is the general notion that the traditional dieting formulas will involve endless calculation of how many calories you are consuming and that you must set a limit and deprive yourself of so much food in order to succeed. The challenge that most people face with dieting is that fact that most of them appear unnatural and unrealistic that it becomes extremely difficult to make them part of a person’s lifestyle.

Unrealistic recommendations
The truth about dieting is that even though there are a few that go out of their way to teach healthy shopping and cooking methods as well as eating out strategies, a majority of them have very unrealistic recommendations. There are even those that provide recommendations that are actually health threatening. What with those diets that don’t even broach the subject about the importance exercise as a way of achieving the ideal weight we so much desire. They don’t even teach people on how to deal with food cravings or fix those feelings of hunger that are bound to be felt as a result. Perhaps this is the reason that most people quit their diets and quickly gain the weight they had lost.

Frustration and discouragements
It must be noted that one common characteristic with diets that encourage deprivation is that they make any subsequent attempts to lose weight become discouraging and frustrating. The problem is that when most people are met with failure they usually end up eating even more than they used to and the result is usually more frustration and discouragement that may well lead to depression. When this becomes the norm that is a vicious cycle most people start wondering whether they should really bother at all. The result is that such people will end up blaming themselves for the failure when the real culprit is actually the wrong dieting method they employed.

Yo-yo dieting   Many people who are intent in losing weight will end up being caught up in what is referred to as ‘yo-yo dieting which involves a cycle of low self esteem because of lack of trust I a person’s body and the unwillingness to listen to the body’s cues and signals. Such diets force people to ignore and even mistrust the body’s internal signals that involve hunger and appetite for psychological and physical satisfaction. Such people instead depend on diet plans as well as the prescribed measures and portions in order to satisfy their new fancy eating styles.
